The Foscarini Binic is a small table lamp with a very playful design. The big, round head and the conical base seem as if they’re out of proportion. Yet, this Binic stands firmly. Add a nice colour to this quirky shape and the result is a bestseller for sure.
Ionna Vautrin, the designer of this lamp, originates from Brittany. In this area, the sea is one of the most important elements of everyday life. So it seems if you look at the sources of inspiration for this lamp. The design is inspired on a Dorade box, a sort of ventilation which was mainly used on older ships. The name of the lamp was borrowed from a lighthouse near her place of birth.
The Binic light shares some features with its namesake. A characteristic design and an aimed beam, that offers light where it’s necessary. Actually, this fun table is a small, personal lighthouse. To make it completely personal, you can choose between six retro-inspired colours: white, green, amaranth, orange, petroleum and grey.
This Foscarini Binic has an E14 socket. You can put a saving bulb up to 12W in it. With its IP-value of 20, the Binic is not suited for outdoor usage. As said, this lamp is rather humble in size (140 x 140 x 200mm).
